In November 2024, just as I was attending my only child's wedding at a castle in Scotland, my second children's picture book was published. It was a busy, marvelous, incomparable time in my life. My head was spinning just a little! Of course, my main focus was on my son and his beautiful new bride; the epic wedding trip and the main event were all-consuming.
My son and I have been through many profound challenges, both together and separately. I knew that his wedding day would be emotional for all of us, but I must say I was not prepared for the almost overwhelming intensity. Witnessing the deep love he and his bride have for one another was such a privilege, making me keenly aware that THIS was why I fought so hard, encouraged, and prayed so fervently for my son all his life... to get him to that point! He deserves to live a life where he loves deeply and that love is returned.

Traveling to the gorgeous UK was a first for my husband, son, and myself, as well as for most of the wedding guests. The ceremony took place at a castle in Moffat, Scotland. It felt very special and intimate to have a few days all together at the castle. It was a perfect fairytale setting! Witnessing my grown child in his element was incredibly fulfilling.
Upon arriving home from the wedding trip, I was inspired to begin writing a Christian fairytale, loosely based on some of our real life events and experiences. This project has been a departure from the delightfulness, but limited word usage in the world of children's picture books, which are typically under 1000 words. Up until 2.5 weeks ago, I had written about 4000 words and had the beginning of my fairytale.
Recently, I had about a week of feeling under the weather, but I took advantage of the downtime and typed, typed, typed to my heart's content! Yesterday I submitted a rough draft manuscript of approximately 19,000 words! This is more writing than I have ever done in my life. I feel God's inspiration in this story and cannot wait to further develop the storyline and characters. I will feel vulnerable sharing this story with the world when the time comes, and yet, I will be very honored to do so.
